Popećci od humusa!

Što učiniti kada imate previše humusa? Napravite popečke! :)
----------------
What do you do when you have too much hummus? Make patties! :)

-----------
It is easy to make hummus, just throw some chickpeas, salt, pepper, parsley,  a drop of olive oil and any seasoning that comes to your hand in the food processor (I hate to follow anything strictly, let alone recipes,  you already got that:))

As for the fritters, add an egg and some flour in the hummus, add as much flour as you need to make mixture hard enough to make fritters. Throw them in hot oil and that's it. You can eat them with nettle or radish greens which you prepare the same as chard with potatoes...

--------------
...or you can throw the patties over the mixture of lettuce and other greens with toasted sesame, pumpkin and flax seeds as mandatory accessory...

... ili ih pak ubacite u pecivo i napravite hambić s finom kancerogenom majonezom i kečapom mmm :)

--------
or put the patties in a bun and make a burger with fine carcinogenic mayonnaise and ketchup mmm :)

Gdje je sreća? - part 4

Da sumiramo sve prethodno...

Tužni smo jer:
a) Imamo nerealna očekivanja
No, iza ograde nas po završetku školovanja nije dočekala velika zelena livada, nego razočarenje, kriza identiteta i jedno veliko ništa.
  1. Ono što su imali naši roditelji, dakle siguran posao i egzistencijalnu sigurnost do kraja radnog vijeka, više nije dovoljno. Mi ne želimo samo sigurnost, mi želimo ispunjenje, sreću, unutarnji mir i zadovoljstvo, termine o kojma naši roditelji, a pogotovo naši djedovi i bake nisu puno razmišljali.

c) Vođeni smo stavovima i pravilima drugih

2. Zajebi prestiž, mišljenje i potvrdu drugih
3. Nađi svoj cilj, nemoj dopustiti da ga drugi definiraju
4. Radi, radi i onda radi još malo
5. Okruži se ljudima koji te nadahnjuju
6. Ako tražiš ljubav svog života, prestani, čekati će te kada počneš raditi stvari koje voliš

where is happiness -?  part 4

Let's summarize all previously said...

We are sad because :
a) We have unrealistic expectations
With a more positive life experience than their parents who have survived wars, famine and depression, our parents raised us in an optimistic atmosphere of boundless possibilities. I remember how my mother, still convinced that bright future is waiting for me, always used to say : "You will finish college, get a job, buy an apartment and get married ". Little did she know that finding a job after graduation will not be an easy task, or finding the perfect partner for whom they forgot to mention he doesn't actually exist. They told us that we can be whatever we want, while incorporating the idea of uniqueness and predestination for great things into our psyche. But after graduation we were not welcomed with a large green meadow behind the fence, but with disappointment, identity crisis and big nothing. The feeling of tremendous hope that upbringing by our parents who have had only the best intentions dwindled quickly for two reasons :
1 ) What our parents had, a secure job and existential security until the end of their working life, is no longer enough for us. We do not want just security, we want fulfillment, happiness, inner peace and contentment, terms our parents , especially our grandparents didn't think too much about.
2 ) It turns out that not only happiness and a secure job are reserved for the very few, but also that it is impossible to find any job at all, let alone gain a career until the famous 30s', the so-called peak of adulthood .

b ) We don' know what do we want
We were put to sleep with stories about adulthood, but they forgot to mention that adulthood does not work by the simple equation - finish college, get a job, get married, buy a flat, have children, raise children, work and die . They forgot to mention that princes and princesses from the fairy tales do not really know what do they want to do for the rest of their life, at the very moment they enter college They forgot to mention that princes and princesses actually have quite average, if not disastrous marriages after the happy ending. They forgot to mention that you 're going through an identity crisis on the way to adulthood, which if you ask me, is manifested only in how much shit you're able to swallow . And as I look at other people's inflated versions of their own existence, guided by wrong advices and tales I was served throughout my entire childhood, I wonder what do I want to do with my life and will this society ever even give me a chance to accomplish what I want ? Where do I buy this identity that we urgently need if we want to know what to do with the rest of our life ?

c ) We are guided by the attitudes and rules of other people
Inner voices that guide us into adulthood are actually the voices of our parents and peers, our schools and work spaces ,our media and contents we consume. The voice of our inner " I " is suppressed in the whole story. As if it's not enough we take advices of other people, who are equally lost individuals, we seek confirmation from that same people . It's called prestige . People are so crazy about prestige. But the best way to earn approval and respect is to act as if we do not need it . This is as true for the art as for business ... and for love .. and sex .. really everything worth owning .

What I have learned from the tips of all the great people I have quoted in previous articles is :
1.There is no simple recipe for happiness, just find what you love and do it and let your perception change, do not stick to the plan sto hard
2. Fuck prestige, opinion and confirmation from other people
3 Find your goal, do not let it be defined by other people
4. Work, work and then work some more
5. Surround yourself with people who inspire you
6. If you 're looking for the love of your life, stop , they will wait for you when you start doing things you love.
7 If you do not like something in your life , change it

Still seems like an easy recipe , and it really is easy , What is difficult is to cook a meal called life. Huter S Thompson , who I quoted at the beginning knew it too, but although he gave good advice on the subject he ended up by taking his own life with a bullet. Will we eventually fall into insanity and resort to anti-depressants or a gun or we will find happiness , it's something I don't t know , but what I do know is that it 's about time we cut the crap and get down to serious work .

----------
Sometimes all it takes for the happiness is a glass of wine, some octopus and vegetables, a sunny terrace and a few friends.

Uz ovu divnu kombinaciju hobotnice, batata i cikle, mi smo još jeli i laganu salatu prema receptu Nigelle Lawson, a taj recept je pak jednostavan- pobacate mozarrelu, rajčicu, prepečeni kuh, bosiljak i masline, začinite i bok!

----------

It's better if the octopus is frozen before cooking. If you buy fresh one, it is better to freeze it the night before and put it frozen into the water and then cook it for 15 minutes. Bake sweet potato and beetroot in the foil, when they are half baked put the octopus in and continue to bake under the foil to let the juices run, you can also add red or white wine. When the octopus is soft, remove the foil, scatter fresh parsley and / or other vegetables on top and bake some more. The whole thing is baked for about an hour. With this wonderful combination of octopus, sweet potato and beetroot, we also ate a light salad by Nigella Lawson and this recipe is even more simple -throw in mozarrela, tomatoes, toasted bread, basil and olives, season it and voila!

Gdje je sreća? -part 3

Paul Graham - esejist i programer
Alain De Botton - pisac, filozof i televizijski voditelj
Znajte ovo i planirajte u skladu s time.

Steve Jobs -poduzetnik i izumitelj
Nemojte stati. Svim srcem ćete znati kad to nađete. I kao svaka dobra veza, postaje sve bolje kako godine prolaze.
Robert Krulwich - novinar
Radit ćete, ali ćete i stvarati prijateljstva. Upoznat ćete ljude koji će vam pomoći, a nekima ćete vi pomoći.Oni koje upoznate u ovom razdoblju će vas opaziti, izazvati vas, raditi s vama i čuvati vam leđa.
Alan Watts - filozof, pisac i govornik

where is happiness? part 3

In addition to Hunter S. Thompson's  tips on the subject of happiness and meaning in life, I really liked the tips a few great thinkers as well. Here are some of them ...

Paul  Graham- essayist and programmer
What you should not do, I think, is worry about the opinion of anyone beyond your friends. You shouldn’t worry about prestige. Prestige is the opinion of the rest of the world...Prestige is like a powerful magnet that warps even your beliefs about what you enjoy. It causes you to work not on what you like, but what you’d like to like...Prestige is just fossilized inspiration. If you do anything well enough, you’ll make it prestigious. . So just do what you like, and let prestige take care of itself.

Alain De Botton- writer, philosopher and television presenter
One of the interesting things about success is that we think we know what it means. A lot of the time our ideas about what it would mean to live successfully are not our own. They’re sucked in from other people. And we also suck in messages from everything from the television to advertising to marketing, etcetera. These are hugely powerful forces that define what we want and how we view ourselves. What I want to argue for is not that we should give up on our ideas of success, but that we should make sure that they are our own. We should focus in on our ideas and make sure that we own them, that we’re truly the authors of our own ambitions. Because it’s bad enough not getting what you want, but it’s even worse to have an idea of what it is you want and find out at the end of the journey that it isn’t, in fact, what you wanted all along.
Hugh Macleod - Cartoonist
The most important thing a creative person can learn professionally is where to draw the red line that separates what you are willing to do, and what you are not. Art suffers the moment other people start paying for it. The more you need the money, the more people will tell you what to do. The less control you will have. The more bullshit you will have to swallow. The less joy it will bring. Know this and plan accordingly.

Lewis Hyde- essayist, poet, translator, critic
Work is what we do by the hour. It begins and, if possible, we do it for money. Welding car bodies on an assembly line is work; washing dishes, computing taxes, walking the rounds in a psychiatric ward, picking asparagus — these are work. Labor, on the other hand, sets its own pace. We may get paid for it, but it’s harder to quantify… Writing a poem, raising a child, developing a new calculus, resolving a neurosis, invention in all forms — these are labors.
Work is an intended activity that is accomplished through the will. A labor can be intended but only to the extent of doing the groundwork, or of not doing things that would clearly prevent the labor. Beyond that, labor has its own schedule.
There is no technology, no time-saving device that can alter the rhythms of creative labor. When the worth of labor is expressed in terms of exchange value, therefore, creativity is automatically devalued every time there is an advance in the technology of work.

Steve Jobs -entrepreneur and inventor
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”
Robert Krulwich - journalist
You will build a body of work, but you will also build a body of affection, with the people you’ve helped who’ve helped you back. The ones you meet now, who will notice you, challenge you, work with you, and watch your back. Maybe they will be your strength.
If you can… fall in love, with the work, with people you work with, with your dreams and their dreams. Whatever it was that got you to this school, don’t let it go. Whatever kept you here, don’t let that go. Believe in your friends. Believe that what you and your friends have to say… that the way you’re saying it — is something new in the world.”

Alan Watts - filozof, pisac, govornik

If you say that money is the most important thing, you’ll spend your life completely wasting your time: You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is, in order to go on doing things you don’t like doing — which is stupid!

Gdje je sreća? - part 2

I strjelice silovite sudbine

Ovo traje i traje.

Ali nemoj me krivo shvatiti. U svakom čovjeku nasljeđe i okolina zajedno proizvode biće određenih sposobnosti i želja. Odluči kako želiš živjeti i onda vidi kako to možeš ostvariti unutar načina života. "

 where is  happiness -part 2

Previous article about Lucy gave at least partly an answer to the question of why is an entire generation of youth so unhappy, and now it 's time to throw ourselves in the quest for an answer where lies the happiness which so many crave .. Hunter S. Thompson once gave good advice on the subject. " “It is not necessary to accept the choices handed down to you by life as you know it.”" wrote twenty something year old father of gonzo journalism, a great scholar and philosopher, in a letter to his friend Hume Logan in 1958. This letter gives a wonderful reflection on the meaning and purpose of life . Cautious , given the fact that each advice can only be the product of a man who gives it, Thompson begins with the necessary explanation of the act of giving advice and says : " To give advice to a man who asks what to do with his life implies something very close to egomania. To presume to point a man to the right and ultimate goal — to point with a trembling finger in the RIGHT direction is something only a fool would take upon himself." In order to nevertheless respond to his friend , Thompson turns to Shakespeare as a source of inspiration for the answer:

"To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles…”

Indeed, the question is whether it is better to float along with the tide or to swim to the finish, to give up to despair or to fight. Thompson believes that this is a choice that we all must make at some point in our lives, consciously or unconsciously. " Think of any decision you’ve ever made which had a bearing on your future: I may be wrong, but I don’t see how it could have been anything but a choice however indirect — between the two things I’ve mentioned: the floating or the swimming. "says Thompson, adding:

The answer — and, in a sense, the tragedy of life — is that we seek to understand the goal and not the man. We set up a goal which demands of us certain things: and we do these things. We adjust to the demands of a concept which CANNOT be valid. When you were young, let us say that you wanted to be a fireman. I feel reasonably safe in saying that you no longer want to be a fireman. Why? Because your perspective has changed. It’s not the fireman who has changed, but you.Touching on the same notion Austin Kleon captured in asserting that “you are the mashup of what you let into your life", Thompson says: Every man is the sum total of his reactions to experience. As your experiences differ and multiply, you become a different man, and hence your perspective changes. This goes on and on. Every reaction is a learning process; every significant experience alters your perspective. So it would seem foolish, would it not, to adjust our lives to the demands of a goal we see from a different angle every day? How could we ever hope to accomplish anything other than galloping neurosis? The answer, then, must not deal with goals at all, or not with tangible goals, anyway. It would take reams of paper to develop this subject to fulfillment. God only knows how many books have been written on “the meaning of man” and that sort of thing, and god only knows how many people have pondered the subject. (I use the term “god only knows” purely as an expression.)

There’s very little sense in my trying to give it up to you in the proverbial nutshell, because I’m the first to admit my absolute lack of qualifications for reducing the meaning of life to one or two paragraphs...To put our faith in tangible goals would seem to be, at best, unwise. So we do not strive to be firemen, we do not strive to be bankers, nor policemen, nor doctors. WE STRIVE TO BE OURSELVES. But don’t misunderstand me. I don’t mean that we can’t BE firemen, bankers, or doctors—but that we must make the goal conform to the individual, rather than make the individual conform to the goal. In every man, heredity and environment have combined to produce a creature of certain abilities and desires—including a deeply ingrained need to function in such a way that his life will be MEANINGFUL. A man has to BE something; he has to matter. As I see it then, the formula runs something like this: a man must choose a path which will let his ABILITIES function at maximum efficiency toward the gratification of his DESIRES. In doing this, he is fulfilling a need (giving himself identity by functioning in a set pattern toward a set goal) he avoids frustrating his potential (choosing a path which puts no limit on his self-development), and he avoids the terror of seeing his goal wilt or lose its charm as he draws closer to it (rather than bending himself to meet the demands of that which he seeks, he has bent his goal to conform to his own abilities and desires). In short, he has not dedicated his life to reaching a pre-defined goal, but he has rather chosen a way of life he KNOWS he will enjoy. The goal is absolutely secondary: it is the functioning toward the goal which is important. And it seems almost ridiculous to say that a man MUST function in a pattern of his own choosing; for to let another man define your own goals is to give up one of the most meaningful aspects of life — the definitive act of will which makes a man an individual.A man who procrastinates in his CHOOSING will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance. So if you now number yourself among the disenchanted, then you have no choice but to accept things as they are, or to seriously seek something else. But beware of looking for goals: look for a way of life. Decide how you want to live and then see what you can do to make a living WITHIN that way of life. But you say, “I don’t know where to look; I don’t know what to look for.”And there’s the crux. Is it worth giving up what I have to look for something better? I don’t know—is it? Who can make that decision but you? But even by DECIDING TO LOOK, you go a long way toward making the choice.I’m not trying to send you out “on the road” in search of Valhalla, but merely pointing out that it is not necessary to accept the choices handed down to you by life as you know it. There is more to it than that — no one HAS to do something he doesn’t want to do for the rest of his life.
