ojoMAGico - umjetnički projekt koji će vam oslikati dušu i baš svaku površinu izvan nje!

Teško je opisati koliko me ova žena oduševljava. Pritom ne mislim samo na čitavo njeno stvaralaštvo i  kreativnost koja se doslovno izlijeva iz unutrašnjosti njenog bića ka i preko svake prazne površine, nego i na sam mozak iza cijele priče. Djelić istog uspjela sam "uhvatiti" tijekom ovog intervjua kojeg rado dijelim s vama, a koji je nastao u one njene rijetke slobodne dane. Upoznajte slikaricu, fotografkinju, dizajnericu, ilustratoricu i umjetnicu u svakom pogledu, Riječanku Jadranku Lacković koja se skriva iza magičnog brenda ojoMAGico.




Fashionbabica: Vi Riječani ste baš posebna ekipa! Kakav to zrak udišete, čim se hranite, koja je tajna u tome da ste svi udareni na tu kreativnu stranu?


Jadranka:Molim!? Haha super. Stvarno ne znam. Znaš, podsjeća me ovo na priču o ženi koja nije shvaćala da je zrak prljav (jer je živjela u nekom američkom divovskom-gradu) dok nije došla u planine. Možda je tako i meni, kreativna sredina je jedino što znam pa ju opće niti ne primjećujem kao nešto neobično ili imalo drugačijom od ostalih sredina. Imala sam sreće pa sam od svoje desete godine u nekoj vrsti likovne škole, i od LIADA (Likovno Istraživački Atelier Darovitih Osnovnoškolaca) do Akademije nas je bilo jedno desetak istih ljudi tako da mi je sad čak teško odrediti što je bilo na Liadu, što u srednjoj a što na faksu. Uostalom zar nisu više-manje svi ljudi nekako kreativni? Ili sam ja predugo u svome ''balončiću''?


Fashionbabica:Tko je Jadranka Lacković, osim što je megasvestrana + megakretivna žena ?


Jadranka:Oh, my…zatekla si me. Tko je Jadranka? Hm? Mislim da bih već sutra ujutro mogla drugačije odgovoriti na ovo pitanje, ali mislim da je u ovome trenutku Jadranka jedna osoba poprilično kontradiktornih poriva čija smjena izvana djeluje kao megasvestranost.


Fashionbabica: Odakle crpiš TOLIKU količinu kreativne energije i ideja?


Jadranka: Iz apsolutno svega! Da se razumijemo, ja rijetko kada otvorim knjigu da bih pronašla inspiraciju. Činila sam to prije, tijekom školovanja kada bih imala zadatak i smjernice, mogu čak reći okvir unutar kojeg je trebao nastati određeni rad. Sada sam slobodna. Apsolutno i u potpunosti slobodna da radim štogod želim. Iako…da, već ovdje mogu napraviti par kategorija, ali mislim da su 2 najvažnije:

- radovi za javnost
- osobni radovi


Prvi donekle podliježu općem ukusu mase i osiguravaju mi financije potrebne za svakodnevni život. Ovdje prvenstveno govorim o nakitu i ostalim uporabnim predmetima koje radim unutar brenda ojoMAGico. Dakle, to je posao i tu su moguće narudžbe u vezi boje, motiva, etc. Nikada ne crtam nešto što mi se ne sviđa jer ipak moj potpis i moje ime stoji pored toga, ali ako ljudi žele plavu biti će više plavog nakita.


Druga kategorija je ta sloboda o kojoj sam pričala. Osobni radovi koji nastaju kao ispušni ventili. Priznajem, rijetko kada razmišljam o radovima. Nemam potrebu radovima iznositi neke poruke, svjetonazore… moj rad je osoban. Biram motiv po osjećaju. Biram boju po osjećaju. Moje slikarstvo je ujedno i moja terapija stoga energiju crpim isključivo iz sebe, a to ujedno znači i iz svega što me okružuje. Vizualan sam tip osobe i sve ''vidim''. Čak i glazbu ''vidim''! Osjećaj vidim kao boju, misao kao simbol,…pa u trenutku stvaranja niti ja ne znam kako će izgledati finalni proizvod. Samo crtam dok je slobodnih površina na papiru.





Fashiobabica:Što je to ojoMAgico? Naime, na prvi pogled to je brand koji nudi nakit, zanimljivo dekorirane šalice, satove, tenisice, majice, ilustracije...pobogu što sve ne. Oslikavaš sve od šalica do zidova...Ali kako je počelo, što si prvo počela dekorirati, kako je sve krenulo, koja je filozofija iza brenda?


Jadranka: Sve je počelo slučajno. Kada sam bila na zadnjoj godini Akademije počela sam crtati naizgled nepovezane prizore. Bilo je tu svega, ali prvenstveno crteža po fotografijama iz knjige ''Narodi svijeta''. Budući da mi je diplomski rad zahtijevao mnogo čitanja i istraživanja, to ''crtkaranje'' je bio idealan način da se odmorim. Uglavnom, u jednom od tih crteža pojavio se moj Mag. Nevjerojatno, ali tko god bi gledao te crteže odmah bi spazio njega, a i ja sam osjećala da ga moram crtati još! I tako sam ga crtala u društvu zlatne deve i majmuna i zamišljala sam kako putuje balonom dalekoooo gore, toliko daleko da je u tome svijetu, u svemiru bio cijeli ocean. Ribe su plivale oko njega, kitovi…i tamo je pronašao svoju sirenu. Tu sam stala. Ne znam gdje je trenutno i što radi.


E sad, to je samo jedna strana priče, druga je ta da sam oduvijek sebi i prijateljicama radila nakit. Pogotovo je to postalo izraženo u doba studentske besparice. Ne bih imala love za poklone pa bih napravila ogrlicu, oslikala šalice za kavu ili majice…onda su i to drugi vidjeli i počeli naručivati i sebi. Iskreno više niti ne znam kako i zašto sam pokrenula facebook page. Vjerojatno nisam htjela preko osobnog profila promovirati hobi. I zapravo je jako dugo page samo stajao prazan, bez ljudi. Stvarno nisam neki stručnjak za marketing i čudi me što su me ljudi uopće pronašli :D ali evo, 3 godine kasnije ojoMAGico je sve što radim.


Nemam neku filozofiju, samo poriv da ispunim bijele površine. Rekla sam već nebrojeno puta, crtati se može po apsolutno svemu samo treba znati sa čime i kako.






Fashionbabica:Koje materijale preferiraš u svom radu što se tiče nakita i koliko kolekcija imaš iza sebe?


Jadranka: Sav moj nakit nastaje na isti način. Podloga je drvo, različitih oblika, koje akrilnim bojama oslikavam u željenu boju te preko toga crtam rapidografima. Pri završetku crtanja sve zaštitim duplim slojem laka.
Kolekcije? Ma mislim da imam samo jednu ili dvije :D Od silnih stvari koje radim paralelno ne stignem se u potpunosti posvetiti izradi kolekcija. Naime kolekcija bi trebala imati odgovarajuće fotografije, i medijsku kampanju. Ja u najboljem slučaju zamolim frendicu (Ivanu Golob) da mi napiše tekst, pa ulovim neku od frendica da pozira. Hahaha, pa kad malo razmislim moja su ''snimanja'' uvijek zabavna. Kada smo radili Šanpjera u lučici na Kantridi, prvo smo satima sjedile, pile gemišt i samo se zezale. Mislim da su sve fotke na kraju nastale u roku od sat vremena. Sve sam radila analogno, na filmu te nakon razvijanja nisam nimalo obrađivala fotografije. Sve je čisto. Sve je iskreno.





Fashionbabica:Odakle ljubav prema arapskim, maorskim, polinezijskim i sličnim etno motivima?


Jadranka: Imam srednju stručnu spremu industrijskog dizajnera, godinama sam učila dizajn, tehničko crtanje, klasično crtanje, slikanje, pravila geometrijske perspektive…i onda je od svega što sam uistinu jako dobro naučila profesor na Akademiji bio oduševljen mojim kiparstvom. Kiparstvom?! U životu nisam učila ništa vezano uz kiparstvo. Daj mi glinu i stavi zadatak ispred mene i ja neću imati pojma što ''moram'' napraviti. Ne znam kako se radi konstrukcija, ali odradit ću to najbolje što mogu. I dugo mi nije bilo jasno zašto je toliko volio moje kiparske radove sve dok ih ja nisam vidjela sa sedam godina odmaka. Moji radovi su MOJI radovi! To nije naučeni šablonizirani prikaz nego moj način da riješim ''problem''. Eto, zato volim etno motive. Fascinira me kako je neka osoba ili pleme ili civilizacija razvila svoj način izražavanja i prikazivanja svijeta oko sebe ili motiva koji su im bili dovoljno bitni da bi ih zabilježili.


To je toliko bogato i kompleksno područje da već godinama ne prestaje moje zanimanje, upravo suprotno, što više istražujem to više želim naučiti o tome. O značenju boja, o motivima, simbolima.


Fashionbabica:  Inspirira te Frida Kahlo! Što je to u njoj što te inspirira?


Jadranka: Iskrenost u stvaranju. Zapravo ne sviđa se meni nešto pretjerano način na koji je ona slikala, pritom mislim na tehničku stranu slikarstva, ali razumijem potrebu da slikaš u apsolutno svakom trenutku bez obzira na okolnosti u kojima se zatekneš tijekom života. Klanjam joj se do poda na hrabrosti i gore navedenoj iskrenosti. Trebalo je imat ''muda'' za to.


Fashionbabica:A što je s MAG-om u imenu tvog brenda i mistikom?


Jadranka:Pa nisam baš nešto pretjerano mistična. Sve je tu, crno na bijelo, ljudi to samo trebaju znati pročitati na pravi način.


Fashionbabica:U jednom intervju rekla si da je slikanje tvoje pisanje. Što želiš reći svojim radom?


Jadranka: Dvoumim se dali da kažem : ''Ništa'' ili ''Kako kada''.


''Ništa'' bi se odnosilo na to da nemam neku poruku nego jednostavno želim napraviti nešto što je lijepo i što će vizualno oplemeniti nečiji životni prostor ili odjevnu kombinaciju. ''Kako kada'' bi se odnosilo na osobne radove kojima bilježim stanja u kojima se u tome trenutku nalazim.


Ma slušaj, mogu ja tebi ovdje pričati kako recimo mandale predstavljaju krug života i govoriti o simbolima i što je krug značio određenim civilizacijama kroz povijest, ali istina je ta da kada krenem crtati mandale ne mislim na ništa nego samo crtam i to je tako divan osjećaj koji me istodobno i prazni i ispunjava.


Fashionbabica: Baviš se i fotografijom? Koji su ti uzori na tom planu?


Jadranka:Fotografija…hm. Uvijek nekako dođem u razgovorima do nje, a i dalje ne znam što da kažem. Nisam ti ja fotograf. Ni blizu. Ja samo volim bilježiti prizore. Trenutke. Budući da sam očito estetski senzibilnija od prosjeka onda ispada da sam fotograf, a stvarno nisam. Niti proučavam fotografiju, niti polazim seminare, radionice. Zapravo ne radim apsolutno ništa po tome pitanju. Samo stisnem dugme kada vidim što mi se sviđa. Tako da niti nemam nekih uzora, samo gomilu ljudi čiji rad uistinu poštujem i cijenim. Trenutno više proučavam radove Hansa Silvestera ili recimo Charlesa Fregera jer je njihov rad usko povezan sa projektom na kojemu radim zajedno s Ivanom Lučić (Novi karneval)


Fashionbabica: Kako se osjećaš dok oslikavaš/slikaš, a kako dok fotografiraš? Koja je razlika između ta dva kretivna procesa?


Jadranka:Slikarstvo obično uključuje samo mene, fotografiranje barem još jednu osobu. Slikarstvo ide iznutra na van, fotografijom bilježim ono što je već ''vani''. Oko mene. Oprečan je to postupak, ali nebi se mogla odrediti samo za jedno jer nisam cijela niti bez jednog niti bez drugoga.


Fashionbabica: Što za tebe znači biti umjetnik?


Jadranka: Zatekla si me. Opet :) Pogotovo što već neko vrijeme govorim da sam obrtnik, zanatlija…sve samo ne umjetnik. Ne pronalazim se baš u suvremenoj umjetnosti, a budući da živim u suvremenom svijetu trebam pronaći novu, prikladniju riječ za sebe.


Fashiobabica: Što znači biti dobar (kvalitetan) umjetnik?


Jadranka: Izuzetno cijenim tehničku izvrsnost prilikom izrade rada te iskrenost. Ne volim prodavanje magle. Maskiranje ne-stručnosti i ne-znanja esejima na 500 stranica. Predugo sam gledala oko sebe ''slikare'' koji ne znaju naslikati osnove, bježe od mrtve prirode i primarnih vježbi pa onda kad izađu (nekako) sa akademije slikaju apstrakcije. Mislim da je Dali jednom rekao: ''Crtanje je najiskrenija umjetnost. U njoj nema mogućnosti varanja – ili je dobro ili je loše.''




Fashionbabica:  Koji je sljedeći korak u tvojoj umjetnosti? Možda neki odlazak van? Mislim, tvoj mozak je toliko velik i genijalan da uopće ne mogu ni zamisliti do kojih granica možeš doći...


Jadranka:Nema granica! Uvijek, ali uvijek možeš napraviti nešto bolje i drugačije. Trenutno nemam vremena za ikakve planove, samo idem gdje me struja nosi. Vani sam bila nedavno. Malo Beograd, malo Španjolska pa Portugal i Francuska i od svega toga bih se voljela vratiti na jedan otočić na jugu Portugala gdje nema nikoga osim kilometarske plaže. Fino bi bilo solirati jedno tjedan dana, ali nemam kad. Koliko god me privlači izolacija, šiba me više energija za rad! Evo ovo mi je prvi i jedini slobodni dan nakon dugo, a bome i za još neko vrijeme. Nisam stala radit' već mjesecima nego samo uskačem iz projekta u projekt. Krajem kolovoza sam držala likovne radionice na Špancirfestu, i odmah pri povratku sam se ''uselila'' u Palach gdje oslikavam cijelu jednu prostoriju, to je sada pri kraju, imam možda još dan-dva posla, ali već sada radim pripreme za street art akciju u sklopu Novog Karnevala koja će se održati u Rijeci 11.10.

ojoMAGico - an art project that will paint your soul and every single surface beyond!




It's hard to describe how much this woman inspires me. And I am not only referring to her whole work and creativity that literally pours from the interior of her being towards and beyond every empty surface, but also the brain  behind the story. A fraction of the same I managed to "catch" during this interview, which I gladly share with you, and which originated in one of her rare days off. Meet painter, photographer, designer, illustrator and artist in every sense, a young woman from Rijeka Jadranka Lackovic who hides behind the magic brand ojoMAGico.


Fashionbabica: You people from Rijeka are a special kind of people you know! What kind of air do you breathe, on what do you feed, what is the secret of all of you having a creative side?


Jadranka:What!? Haha great. I really don't know. You know, this reminds me of a story about a woman who didn't realize the air is dirty (because she lived in some giant American city) until she came to the mountains. Maybe it's the same with me, creative environment is the only thing I know, so I generally don't even notice it as something unusual or any different from other surroundings.Iwas lucky to have been in some kind of art school since I was ten, and from LIAD (Art and research atelier for gifted elementary school children) to Art Academy there were the same dozen people there so even now it is difficult for me to determine what was in LIAD, what in high school and what in college.After all aren't more or less all people somehow creative? Or am I too long in my "balloon"?



Fashionbabica:Who is Jadranka Lackovic, except mega diverse + mega creative women?


Jadranka:Oh, my ... good question. Who is Jadranka? Hm? I think already tomorrow morning I might answer differently to this question, but I think at this point Jadranka is a person of rather contradictory impulses whose shifts look like many-sidedness on the outside.



Fashionbabica:Where do you draw such amount of creative energy and ideas from?


Jadranka:From absolutely everything! To be clear, I rarely open a book to find inspiration. I did it before, during school when I had an assignment and guidance, I can even say a certain framework within which a particular work was supposed to be done. Now I am free. Absolutely and completely free to do whatever I want. Although ... yes, even here I can make a couple of categories, but I think the two most important ones are:


- Work for the public
- Personal work


The first is somewhat subject to the general taste of masses and ensures me the finance I need for daily life. Here we are primarily talking about jewelry and other utility objects that I do within the brand ojoMAGico. So it's business and there are orders possible regarding colors, motifs, etc. I never draw something I don't like because my signature and my name comes in addition to it but if people want  blue there will be more blue jewelry.


The second category is that freedom I am talking about. Personal works that are created as the blow of steam. I admit, I seldom think about my works. I don't feel the need to send some messages or views with my works, my work is personal. I choose a motif by a feeling. I choose a color by a feeling. My painting is also my therapy because I collect energy only from myself, but it also means from everything that surrounds me. I'm a visual type of a person and I 'see' everything. I  even "see" music! I see a feeling as a color, a thought as a symbol ... so at the moment of creation even I don't know what the  finished product will look like. I just draw while there is free surface on the paper.










Fashiobabica:What is ojoMAgico? At first glance it is a brand that offers jewelry, interestingly decorated cups, watches, shoes, t-shirts, illustrations ... for God's sake what not. You paint on everything from cups to walls ... But how did it start, how did you first begin to decorate and what is the philosophy behind the brand?


Jadranka:It all started by accident. When I was at my final year on the Arts Academy, I began to draw seemingly unrelated scenes. There were all kinds of stuff, but primarily drawings made according to the photographs from the book 'The peoples of the world'. Since my graduate work required a lot of reading and research, that doodling was an ideal way to rest. In one of these drawings my MAG appeared. Amazingly, whoever would see these drawings would immediately notice him, and I felt that I must draw him more! So I drew him in the company of a golden camel and monkeys, and I imagined him travelling in a balloon far, so far that in this world, in the universe was the whole ocean.  Fish were swimming around him, and whales ... and then he found his siren. There I stopped. I don't know where is he now and what is he doing.


Now, this is just one side of the story, the other is that I always made jewelry for me and my friends. It especially became expressed in the age of the student lack of money. I didn't have any money for gifts so I made necklaces, painted coffee mugs or T-shirts ... and then other people saw it and began to order it for themselves. Honestly I don't know any more how and why I started the Facebook page. Probably I didn't want to promote my hobby over my personal profile. Actually for a very long time the page just stood empty, devoid of people. I'm not really an expert in marketing and I am surprised people even found me: D but here, three years later ojoMAGico is all I do.
I don't have a philosophy, just an urge to fill in the white areas. I said it countless times, you can draw on absolutely everything, you just need to know  what and how.





Fashionbabica:Which materials do you prefer in your work when it comes to jewelry and how many collections do you have?


Jadranka:All my jewelry is made in the same way. The base is wood, in various forms which with the use of acrylic paint I illustrate in the desired color, and beyond that I'm drawing with a rapidograf. At the end of the drawing I protect everything with a double layer of varnish.


Collections? Oh, I think I have just one or two: D From all the things I do at the same time, I don’t have the time to devote myself to creating collections. Collections should have appropriate photos, and media campaigns. I at best ask a friend (Ivana Golob) to write a text, and catch some of my best friends to pose. Hahaha, so when I think about it, my 'photo shoots' are always fun. When we worked Šanpjero in a port on Kantrida, we first sat for hours, drank wine and had fun. I think that all the photos were mde within an hour.Everything was done analog, on film, and after the development, the images were not processedEverything is clear. Everything is sincere.






Fashionbabica:Where does the love for Arabic, Maori, Polynesian and similar ethno motives come from?


Jadranka: I have industrial design high school education, for years I studied design, technical drawing, classic drawing, painting, geometric rules of perspective ... and then from all the things learned really well my professor at the Art Academy was delighted with my sculpturing. Sculpturing?! I've never studied anything related to sculpturing. Give me clay and put the task in front of me and I will not have a clue what to do. I don't know how to design, but I'll do the best I can. And for a long time I couldn't understand why he loved my sculptural work until I didn't see it with a seven year detachment. My works are my works! It is not some learned patterned display but my way of solving 'the problem'. That's why I love folk motifs. I am fascinated by how a person or a tribe or a civilization developed its own way of expression and representation of the world around it or motives that were important enough to them to be recorded.


It is an area so rich and complex that my interest hasn’t stopped for many years now, on the contrary, the more I explore the more I learn about it. On the meaning of colors, motifs, symbols.


Fashionbabica:Frida Kahlo inspires you! What inspires you in her?


Jadranka:Honesty in creation. Actually I don't like the way she painted so much, and by that I mean the  technical side of painting, but I understand the need to paint in absolutely any moment regardless of the circumstances in which you find yourself in life. I admire her to the floor for the above mentioned courage and honesty. You have to have 'guts' to do it.

Fashionbabica:And what about the MAG in the name of your brand and mystique?


Jadranka: Well, I'm not overly mystical. It's all there in black and white, people just need to know how to read it properly.




Fashionbabica:In one interview you said painting is your writing. What do you want to say with your work?


Jadranka:I am having second thoughts whether to say 'Nothing' or 'It depends'.


'Nothing' would refer to the fact that I don't have a message but simply want to make something that is beautiful and which will visually enrich one's living space or outfit. 'It depends' refers to personal works with which I record the situation in which I am at that moment.
Oh, listen, I'm can tell you how mandalas represent the cycle of life and talk about symbols and what the circle meant to certain civilizations throughout history, but the truth is that when I start to draw mandalas I don't mean nothing I just draw and that is such a great feeling which at the same time empties and fills me.


Fashionbabica:You're into photography? What are your role models in this area?


Jadranka:Photography ... hm. In conversations I somehow always come to that subject, and I still don't know what to say. I'm not a photographer. Not even close. I just like to record scenes. Moments. Since I am obviously aesthetically more sensitive than average it turns out that I am a photographer, and I'm really not. Neither I study photography, nor do I go to some photography seminars or workshops. Actually I do absolutely nothing about it. I just push the button when I see what I like. So I don't have any role models, just a bunch of people whose work I really appreciate and respect. Currently the works of Hans Silvester or say Charles Freger because their work is closely related to the project I am working on with Ivana Lučić (New Carnival)


Fashionbabica:How do you feel when you paint, and how when you photograph? What is the difference between these two creative processes?


Jadranka: Painting usually involves only me, while photographing involves at least one more person. Painting goes outward from the inside, while with photographing I record what is already 'out there'. Around me. The procedure is opposite but I couldn't choose only one because I am not whole without one or without the other.


Fashionbabica:What does it mean to be an artist?


Jadranka:Good question. Again :) Especially because for some time now I am saying that I am a craftsman, an artisan ... anything but an artist. I don't find myself in contemporary art, and since I live in a modern world I need to find a new, more appropriate word for myself.


Fashiobabica:What does it mean to be a good (quality) artist?


Jadranka:I extremely appreciate technical excellence when creating work and honesty. I don't like smoke and mirrors. Masking of non-professionalism and non-knowledge on 500 page essays. For too long I watched 'artists' who don't know how to paint the basics, who run away from still life and primary exercises so when (somehow) they finish the Academy they paint abstraction. I think that Dali once said: 'Drawing is the sincerest art. There is no possibility of cheating -  is good or is bad. '




Fashionbabica:What is the next step in your art? Maybe going to another countries? I mean, your brain is so big and amazing that I can't even imagine the extent to whichyou can get ...


Jadranka:There are no limits! You can always, but always do better and different. Currently I have no time for any plans, I just go where the tide carries me. I was abroad recently. I went to Belgrade, to Spain, to Portugal and to France and from all that I would prefer to return to one small island in the south of Portugal, where there is nothing besides kilometers of beach. It would be great to be solo for one week, but I don't have the time. As much as I am drawn to isolation, energy to work attracts me more! Here's my first and only day off after a long time, and it will be my only day off for some time. I haven't stopped for months because I jump from one project to another. In late August I held art workshops at Špancirfest, and immediately upon return I  'moved in' to  Rijeka's club Palach where I’m painting an entire room, it is now close to the end, I got maybe a day or two work to do but I’m already making arrangements for street art campaign as a part of Novi karneval (New Carnival) to be held in Rijeka 11.10.

And these are only the 'most important' projects, there are also smaller ones that are so numerous that it is not worth  mentioning. Anyway, again I talk too much :)
